Jason Topic Architect is a small architectural firm specialising in the design, documentation and co-ordination of high-quality architectural projects. We have extensive experience across a range of project types including single houses, alterations and additions, medium-density housing, mixed-use projects, commercial and industrial buildings and educational facilities. We produce refined, contemporary architecture by integrating the site conditions and context with our clients' needs, lifestyle and budget.
We work closely with our wonderful and diverse clients to find a unique, personalised solution to each unique set of requirements. Our work is developed through a combination of creative experimentation in design and professional logic. Our approach to design is thoughtful, rigorous, informed and playful, with an aim to produce buildings which are logical, beautiful and responsive to the site and location. All projects are founded on sustainable passive design principles.
Jason Topic Architect lives and works in Newcastle, Australia, on the lands of the Awabakal and Worimi people. The practice was formed in 2014 by Jason Topic after fifteen years of experience working with award-winning architectural firms in the Newcastle and Port Stephens areas. Jason holds a Bachelor of Architecture (Honours 1), is a registered architect (NSW no. 8272) is an A+ Member of the Australian Institute of Architects and is a member of the Association of Consulting Architects.
Jason Topic a Registered Design Practitioner (NSW) and is qualified to work on all building types and building classifications.

SERVICES
We can assist you through all stages of the architectural process, from your first ideas to a completed home or building. Our process has been refined through many years of experience with each stage comprising differing levels of design, documentation, research and management. We will guide you through the various stages, assist in selecting and managing other consultants (such as engineers) and provide advice on the options for approvals and construction.
FEASIBILITY REVIEW
If you’d like help to explore the viability of a site for a multi-residential development, a new home or any other type of building, or if you’re simply unsure of what to do with your aging house, we can assist in the early stages of the process. Reviewing the feasibility of a site can set a project on the right track from the outset and might just open up opportunities you hadn’t considered.
DESIGN STAGE
While all stages of the process involve elements of design work, the Design Stage is where ideas start to turn into reality. During this stage we get to know you, your site and your brief. We refine the ideas and prepare concept drawings of your new house or building. With your input we develop the form and spacial design further and present you with plans, sections, elevations, 3D images and key materials.
DEVELOPED DESIGN & PLANNING APPLICATIONS
The design is further developed and documentation is prepared for submission to Council, if required. We have years of experience with Councils and we will guide you confidently through this stage.
CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION
Detailed, technical drawings and specifications are prepared for costing by builders, construction approval and construction of your project. This is a highly important stage of the process; documentation is thoroughly prepared and co-ordinated to ensure the construction process runs as smoothly as possible.
INTERIOR SELECTIONS
If you would like assistance with interior fixtures, fittings, materials or colours, we can certainly help. Some clients love to be involved in the interior selections process, others are happy to leave it to us. We are flexible with our involvement through this stage and can assist as much as you’d like.
CONTRACTOR SELECTION
We can assist in recommending potential builders for your project and obtain formal pricing from them. We can discuss with you the different ways to engage a builder and the different contractual arrangements you may experience.
CONSTRUCTION STAGE SERVICES
During construction we can liaise with you and your builder as your new home or building takes shape. We can answer questions, assist in construction detailing, advise on contractual matters, and a range of other things that might pop up, until your building is complete. .
